Message from the President of the Institute of Environmental Professionals Sri Lanka

It is with great honour and humility that I step into the role of President of the Institute of Environmental Professionals Sri Lanka (IEPSL). I extend my sincere gratitude to the membership for placing their trust in me to lead this esteemed institution at a time when our role as environmental professionals has never been more critical.

We are living in a time of profound environmental uncertainty. Climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution, and resource depletion are no longer distant threats — they are realities we confront daily. As a nation vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, Sri Lanka must take decisive, science-based action to secure a sustainable future. IEPSL, as the country’s premier professional body for environmental practitioners, is uniquely positioned to lead these efforts.

Our Annual Technical Sessions and related platforms will continue to serve as key forums for dialogue, knowledge-sharing, and solution-building. These gatherings are instrumental in fostering innovation and uniting stakeholders across sectors and disciplines to address environmental challenges collaboratively.

As we move forward, our focus will remain on empowering environmental professionals—enhancing their knowledge, skills, and leadership capacity. Through strategic partnerships, advocacy, and community engagement, we are committed to building a strong, capable, and ethically grounded environmental profession that can influence policy, practice, and public awareness.

I call upon all our Chartered Environmental Professionals (CEnvPs), general members, government bodies, academic institutions, private sector partners, and civil society organisations to join hands with IEPSL. Together, let us strengthen our collective commitment to environmental stewardship and create a resilient, inclusive, and sustainable future for Sri Lanka and beyond.

Let us transform today’s environmental challenges into opportunities for meaningful and lasting change.
