The Institute of Environmental Professionals Sri Lanka (IEPSL) was invited to represent Sri Lanka at the 8th Annual Conference of the Banking and Financial Institutions Network (BFIN) held in Kathmandu, Nepal, under the theme “Future-Ready Financial Systems: Leadership, Sustainability and Transformation Amid Global Uncertainty.”
The conference brought together banking and financial-sector professionals, regulators, academics and sustainability practitioners from across the region to discuss the transformation of financial systems in response to global economic, environmental and climate-related challenges.
Representing IEPSL, Mr Janaka Wijesekera, Fellow Member and Treasurer of IEPSL, and Mr Buddhika Batheegama, Member of IEPSL, participated as speakers at the conference.
Mr Wijesekera presented on “Sustainable Development, ESG Integration, and Long-Term Economic Growth,” highlighting the role of ESG in moving beyond compliance towards economic resilience, productive investment and strategic autonomy. His presentation also highlighted Sri Lanka’s ancient cascade irrigation system as an example of indigenous knowledge and integrated environmental resilience, alongside international experiences from India, China and ASEAN.
Mr Batheegama presented on “Climate Risk, Nature Loss, and the Need for Sustainable Financial Systems in South Asia,” focusing on the growing implications of climate and nature-related risks for financial systems and the importance of integrating sustainability considerations into financial decision-making.
The IEPSL participation provided a valuable platform to share Sri Lankan environmental expertise and perspectives while strengthening regional dialogue and potential collaboration among environmental professionals, financial institutions and sustainability practitioners.
The presentations also highlighted the emerging opportunity for South Asian countries to use sustainable finance, knowledge exchange and ESG cooperation as tools for strengthening economic resilience and regional collaboration.
IEPSL නේපාලයේ පැවති BFIN 8 වන සමුළුව නියෝජනය කරයි
ශ්රී ලංකා පාරිසරික වෘත්තිකයන්ගේ ආයතනය (IEPSL), Banking and Financial Institutions Network (BFIN) විසින් නේපාලයේ කත්මණ්ඩු නුවරදී සංවිධානය කරන ලද 8 වන වාර්ෂික සමුළුව සඳහා ශ්රී ලංකාව නියෝජනය කිරීමට ආරාධනා ලැබීය. මෙවර සමුළුව “Future-Ready Financial Systems: Leadership, Sustainability and Transformation Amid Global Uncertainty” යන තේමාව යටතේ පැවැත්විණි.
බැංකු හා මූල්ය ක්ෂේත්රයේ වෘත්තිකයන්, නියාමකයන්, විද්වතුන් සහ තිරසාර සංවර්ධන ක්ෂේත්රයේ වෘත්තිකයන් රැසක් සහභාගී වූ මෙම සමුළුවේදී, ගෝලීය ආර්ථික, පාරිසරික හා දේශගුණික අභියෝග හමුවේ අනාගතයට සූදානම් මූල්ය පද්ධති ගොඩනැගීම පිළිබඳව අවධානය යොමු කෙරිණි.
IEPSL නියෝජනය කරමින් IEPSL හි භාණ්ඩාගාරික සහ Fellow Member වන ජනක විජේසේකර මහතා සහ IEPSL සාමාජික බුද්ධික බාතීගම මහතා සමුළුවේ විශේෂ දේශකයන් ලෙස සහභාගී වූහ.
“Sustainable Development, ESG Integration, and Long-Term Economic Growth” යන මාතෘකාව යටතේ ජනක විජේසේකර මහතා ඉදිරිපත් කළ දේශනයේදී, ESG සංකල්පය අනුකූලතා හා වාර්තාකරණයකට පමණක් සීමා නොකර, ආර්ථික ඔරොත්තුදීමේ හැකියාව, ඵලදායී ආයෝජන සහ උපායමාර්ගික ස්වයංපෝෂිතභාවය ගොඩනැගීම සඳහා භාවිත කළ හැකි ප්රවේශයක් ලෙස අවධාරණය කෙරිණි. ශ්රී ලංකාවේ පුරාණ ඇළවැව්/කැස්කේඩ් වාරි පද්ධතිය දේශීය පාරිසරික දැනුම සහ ජල සම්පත් කළමනාකරණයේ ඔරොත්තුදීමේ හැකියාව පිළිබඳ උදාහරණයක් ලෙස ඉදිරිපත් කෙරුණු අතර, ඉන්දියාව, චීනය සහ ASEAN කලාපයේ අත්දැකීම් ද සාකච්ඡා කෙරිණි.
“Climate Risk, Nature Loss, and the Need for Sustainable Financial Systems in South Asia” යන මාතෘකාව යටතේ බුද්ධික බාතේගම මහතා ඉදිරිපත් කළ දේශනයේදී, දේශගුණික අවදානම් සහ ස්වභාවධර්මයේ හානි මූල්ය පද්ධති කෙරෙහි ඇති කරන බලපෑම සහ මූල්ය තීරණ ගැනීමේදී තිරසාරභාවය ඒකාබද්ධ කිරීමේ වැදගත්කම අවධාරණය කරන ලදී.
මෙම IEPSL සහභාගීත්වය මඟින් ශ්රී ලංකාවේ පාරිසරික වෘත්තීය දැනුම හා අත්දැකීම් කලාපීය මූල්ය සංවාදයට ඉදිරිපත් කිරීමටත්, පාරිසරික වෘත්තිකයන්, මූල්ය ආයතන, නියාමකයන් සහ තිරසාර සංවර්ධන ක්ෂේත්රයේ පාර්ශ්වකරුවන් අතර ඉදිරි සහයෝගීතා සඳහා අවස්ථා පුළුල් කිරීමටත් වැදගත් වේදිකාවක් සලසා දුන්නේය.
සමුළුවේදී අවධාරණය වූ ප්රධාන කරුණක් වූයේ තිරසාර මූල්යකරණය, දැනුම හුවමාරුව සහ ESG සහයෝගීතාව හරහා දකුණු ආසියානු රටවල ආර්ථික ඔරොත්තුදීමේ හැකියාව සහ කලාපීය සහයෝගීතාව ශක්තිමත් කළ හැකි බවයි.
