IEPSL participated in the two-day Training of Trainers (ToT) Programme on Circular Economy and Biogas-based Circular Business Models held on 2–3 July 2026 at Camelot Hotel, Negombo. The programme was organized under the FAO-led “Circular Economy in the Food Sector (CIRCULAR) 2024–2027” initiative, with support from the European Union and implementation partners. The training brought together professionals representing MSMEs, local authorities, the hospitality sector, farmer organizations, and environmental institutions to strengthen national capacity in promoting circular economy practices and sustainable biogas technologies.
The programme featured expert-led technical sessions by the Lanka Biogas Association and FAO on circular economy principles, food waste management, biogas technologies, biofertilizer production, AI applications, and sector development. Participants also visited Jetwing Blue Hotel and Maxis Farms, Bujjampola, gaining practical insights into integrated biogas systems, wastewater treatment, renewable energy generation, and the conversion of livestock waste into biogas and organic fertilizer.
The programme enhanced participants’ technical knowledge and demonstrated the role of biogas in advancing Sri Lanka’s transition towards a low-carbon, resource-efficient circular economy. IEPSL acknowledges the FAO, the Lanka Biogas Association, and all partners for organizing this impactful capacity-building initiative.
