The Institute of Environmental Professionals Sri Lanka (IEPSL) successfully conducted a One-Day Training Program on Environmental Assessments for Credit Officers of Union Bank PLC on 14th July 2025 at Union Bank Headquarters. The training brought together 50 participants and featured a line-up of distinguished speakers including senior academics and experienced practitioners in the field of environmental management.
The sessions covered a wide range of topics including climate and pollution concerns by industry, the National Physical Plan and zoning, legal frameworks, and practical exercises on environmental and social due diligence. The program also introduced participants to modern environmental tools and knowledge platforms such as IBAT and ENCORE. The event concluded with a vibrant discussion, training evaluation, and a note of thanks from IEPSL officials.
This initiative marked another step forward in building environmental awareness and capacity in Sri Lanka’s banking sector.
